Timothy Kuniskis, recently named President and CEO of the Dodge Brand, is the former head of the FIAT Brand for North America. Before he left Fiat, Kuniskis talked to Lou Ann Hammond, CEO, www.drivingthenation.com about the 2013 Fiat 500E.
Fiat gives you two options, buy or lease. The Fiat 500E goes on sale this summer, exclusively in California for $32,500 MSRP. That seems like a lot, but if you are eligible for federal credits, state incentives, and FIAT rebates, you will be able to purchase this vehicle for as low as $20,500.
If you would rather lease for 3 years you can do so with a down payment of a mere $999 and monthly payments of $199 a month.
Fiat claims a best-in-class EPA-certified driving range of 87 miles when it is fully charged. You can buy the 500E at 25 dealerships across California. Besides having apps available, each car dealer will offer 4 charging stations that 500e owners can use. The Fiat 500E can be charged in under 4 hours with 240 volts.
The 500e has a 111hp/83kW electric motor that is able to deliver 147 lb-ft of torque and is powered by a 24 kWh lithium battery.
Still concerned about range anxiety and you know you want to take a long trip during the summer, or haul some wood? If you purchase the car, Fiat will offer you the “Fiat 500e Pass Program†for the first 3 years. This allows 500e owners to rent a car, paid for by Fiat, through Enterprise Holdings, which includes Enterprise, Alamo and National.
