The 2008 Toyota Highlander Hybrid unveiling at the 2007 Chicago Auto Show. The fuel economy, according to Toyota, is virtually unchanged, there is more room, and more power. The 2008 Toyota Highlander Hybrid has an electric vehicle mode switch, and its hybrid system gives it particularly low emissions.

The Highlander is a car-based SUV, known as a crossover (CUV). Toyota says they were the first company to bring out a crossover, pioneering the way thirteen years ago with the Toyota RAV4.

Toyota sold 67 percent of all hybrids sold in 2006, including 31,000 Highlander hybrids.
