2016 Acura ILX reduces noise through the wheel and ANC technology

Seijirou Sone talked to Driving the Nation about the new noise reduction in the new 2016 Acura ILX.

There is road noise and cabin noise, in an effort to decrease that noise Acura is using a polypropylene Helmholtz resonator that encircles the center portion of the inside of the wheel. Such resonator wheel technology significantly lowers middle frequency noise. This is the first time this technology has been used in the Acura ILX.

Acura has combined that with insulation material on the floorboard areas and a new system called ANC – Active Noise Cancellation technology. It’s basically a subwoofer that redirects noise in the driver’s seat.

Sone talks about both technologies in this video
