The 2020 BMW X3 xDrive30e is the millennial that I could live with for the rest of my life.

I was chatting with some Millenials on Facebook about reducing, recycling, reuse, and repurpose. Some of the ideas they were sharing were small, like recycling chip bags to make them garbage bags or kitty litter bags. Some ideas were more significant, such as buying more fuel-efficient cars.

The newest BMW Plug-In Hybrid member of the X family of Sports Activity Vehicles is the X3 xDrive30e. This is the first time a Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) model has been available in the X3 line. Combining a 2.0-liter TwinPower turbocharged gasoline engine with BMW’s eDrive technology featuring an electric motor and 12 kWh high-voltage battery, the new X3 PHEV achieves an estimated EPA 60 MPGe and offers up to 18 miles of emissions-free electric driving.

It is a compelling option for a couple that aspires to live in a sustainable world. The little things make a difference, but wanting the little one you are bringing into the world to breathe clean air is a big thing. The BMW competes nicely with the Mercedes-Benz GLC 350e and Volvo XC60 T8.

BMW has made the X3 xDrive30e fun to drive, comfortable to be a passenger in, and functional. In the hybrid driving mode, the new X3 xDrive30e can operate at speeds up to 68 mph on electric power alone. Emissions-free and fuel-free electric mode allows driving at up to 84 mph. Pedestrians’ standard Active Protection features an exterior speaker system to generate an unmistakable sound created specifically for electrified BMWs when operating in electric-only mode at speeds up to 20 mph.

BMW iDrive 7
My husband remarked that it looked like BMW had given up on the BMW iDrive, but what they have done is upgrade it to the point it looks like a whole new system. The standard BMW Live Cockpit Professional features iDrive 7, a 12.3-inch high-resolution digital instrument cluster display, and a 10.25-inch digital touch screen Control Display with Navigation, BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, and wireless Apple CarPlay compatibility. This latest BMW iDrive delivers intuitive multimodal interaction between driver and vehicle using a combination of voice, touch screen, or haptic iDrive rotary controller or steering wheel controls.

The SAV’s interior night light is a subtle violet that reminds me of lavender’s calmness; just breathe. And as long as your breathing, take the long breath and get the M Sport package with the Harman Kardon surround sound system

I’m so proud of the young people in my life. They work hard, and they care about the earth, and they love to have fun. It’s a wonderfully balanced life.
