Simple Elegance and Luxury
The Genesis G70 is a lovely four-door sedan that drives like a rear-wheel-drive muscle car with a high brand equity index.
What is brand equity index?
Brand Equity Index is a way that Strategic Vision ranks an automotive brand’s health and the potential power with new-vehicle buyers, both explaining current sales and predicting future success.
As rated by owners, the Genesis brand creates the strongest value-emotion connection to Confidence by being a Refined, Smart Choice. That connection of Genesis owners to the brand is a reliable indicator of future advocacy and loyalty.
According to Strategic Vision, “Only those brands with strong equity in the right areas will find success both in and coming out of the current COVID-19 environment. For example, as suggested by the release’s title, Genesis owners are experiencing stronger luxury value-emotions than those who own Mercedes products. If Genesis can get the feelings of current owners shared with other luxury owners/intenders – the brand can become a stronger contender.”
There are five available drive modes—Sport, Comfort, Smart, Eco, and Custom— that can synchronize with the Active Sound Design profiles. With eight-gears to play and paddle shifters, the sport mode can be fun. Thank goodness for Brembo brakes.
The interior is what luxury should be; soft dash, heated leather steering wheel, heated and cooled front seats, and heated back seats. The console is intuitive. I’d like to see the Bluetooth interface to the phone to be a little quicker. A cool feature is the no-hands, no-feet smart key detection to open the trunk.
There are many safety technologies, including land keep assist, pedestrian detection, rear-cross traffic detection, and parking proximity sensors.
Genesis G70 competitors
German small sport sedans, but it’s a class above anything from Lexus, Infiniti, Acura, BMW 340i.
Audi A4, BMW 3-Series, Cadillac CT4, Lexus
2020 Genesis G70 secures a high ranking among small luxury cars on the strength of its strong engines, dynamic handling, and perfect predicted reliability rating.
Two engines are available on the G70, the 2.0L T-GDI I4 engine and the 3.3L TT-GDI V6, which is the sedan I drove. The 3.3L TT-GDI V6 is sweetly mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The engine can produce 365 horsepower and 376 lb. ft. of torque, which Genesis says is the best horsepower in the segment. Whether you have rear-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive in the twin-turbo V6, you will also have limited-slip differential and torque vectoring. It can send 100% of the power to the rear wheels.
Genesis is a fun everyday drive that surprises you with refinement. It’s why owners think it is a good buy for their money.
