2020 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro 4X4 Double Cab

Off-roading in a Toyota

The Sierra Nevada is home to many off-road areas to show off your prowess. Some off-roaders have tried and failed. Here is a video of what not to do when off-roading, and clearly someone that wishes they had TRD-Pro.

What is a TRD Pro?

The Toyota Racing Development (TRD) Pro is a beloved machine by the off-roaders. The TRD Pro<span data-preserver-spaces=”true”> accessories are specifically designed to perform well even in the toughest off-road terrain. The Pro gives you the TRD-tuned off-road suspension with 2.5-inch FOX Internal Bypass coil-overs, rear remote reservoir shocks, and a 1-inch lift suspension, making this Toyota’s most capable midsize truck.

The TRD Pro is powered by the 3.5-liter V6 D-4S Injection (Direct & Port Injection) Atkinson Cycle Engine with VVT-iW (Variable Valve Timing-Intelligent Wider Intake) & VVT-i (Variable Valve TimingIntelligent Exhaust) mated to the 6-speed ECT automatic transmission creating 278 hp @ 6,000 rpm horsepower and 265 lb-ft @ 4,600 rpm of torque.

The Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro does not have to be the best to be popular. Toyota has a reputation for resale value, styling, smartphone integration, durability, and reliability. The Tacoma TRD Pro is made for the rough and ready off-roader. It is full of all the sounds and precision of a truck that off-roaders are seeking.

The army green paint and desert air intake had heads turning to look at the midsize pickup. While polarizing to some, the Toyota TRD Pro buyer loves the look and feel. The heritage of the Tacoma overcomes the fuel economy of its competitors. When asked about the difference in space, an owner said they didn’t need extra space, that it just made parking harder.

Toyota is a full line company that has maximized its heritage in each segment of its operations. The competition in the midsized pickup level is stiff. The next generation will be the most interesting change in any segment.
