The Chevrolet Blazer has evolved from a truck-based SUV to a car-based model carrying over the DNA of the Camaro with seating for five. The Chevrolet Blazer is a five-seat midsize SUV with a choice of three engines and front or all-wheel-drive. There are no significant changes for the 2021 year from 2019 unveil.
The 2021 Blazer comes in L, LT (1LT, 2LT, and 3LT trims), RS, and Premier models. The all-wheel-drive model is available on 2LT, 3LT, RS, and Premier.
There are three engines available in the Blazer;
The base engine is a 193-horsepower, and it pairs with a nine-speed automatic transmission. The L and 1LT have a 193-horsepower inline-four engine as standard.
The second engine is a 2.5L inline-4 engine with intelligent Stop/Start and nine-speed automatic transmission is standard on L and Blazer.
The third is a 3.6-liter V-6 engine with intelligent Stop/Start and nine-speed automatic transmission is available on Blazer and standard on RS and Premier. I drove the 3.6-liter on the RS model, and it was very easy to drive.
Chevrolet unveils the Blazer
When Alan Batey, President GM North America & global Chevrolet brand chief, introduced the 2019 Chevrolet Blazer, he described it as having a dynamic ride and handling, and he was correct. The SUV Blazer is easy to drive as an ordinary crossover and shares a name with one of Chevy’s most famous 4x4s.
Mike Pevovar, the Exterior designer for Chevrolet Blazer, talks about the exaggerated sporty style of the Blazer in the video. The two-row midsize SUV offers three distinct personalities: Blazer, the bold signature look, a sporty Blazer RS, and you can uplevel to the Blazer Premier.
A wide stance, tight proportions, high beltline, and dramatic sculpting give the Blazer a toned, athletic appearance from all angles. The cockpit is a driver-centric interior with a standard leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob. The signature look for the Blazer boasts a horizontal grille and dual exhaust outlets with round chrome tips. The RS features unique, blacked-out exterior cues with a hexagon black mesh grille, RS badging, and dual exhaust outlets with rectangular chrome tips.
Technology and Safety
The technology on the Chevrolet SUV includes an Infotainment with an 8-inch-diagonal color touchscreen. Remote start is standard on RS and Premier. Also standard is Teen Driver and Rear Seat Reminder and an HD Rear Vision Camera.
Available for the Blazer is a 4G LTE Wi-Fi (1 month or 3 GB of data, whichever comes first). Trailering Package with Hitch Guidance and Hitch View technology offered on AWD models equipped with the 3.6L V-6 engine.
Lots of safety is included or available on the Blazer; Lane Change Alert with Slide Blind Zone Alert, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, and Rear Park Assist standard on RS and Premier and available on Blazer. Adaptive Cruise Control – Advanced, Following Distance Indicator, Forward Automatic Braking, Forward Collision Alert, Front Pedestrian Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure.
