Dr. Ludger Reckman is the CEO of ZF Group. ZF Group is one of the top-10 automotive industry suppliers globally. It is a leading worldwide supplier of driveline and chassis technology. ZF’s goal is to design products that improve driving dynamics, fuel efficiency, environmental impact, comfort and safety for OEMs.

ZF has a workforce of about 70,000 employees, the company operates 117 plants in 26 countries. ZF Group had sales of $12.9 billion in 2010, with five percent of that going into research and development.

What is the difference in fuel economy between an eight-speed and nine-speed transmissions?
