Honda Accord, Volvo XC 60, Lincoln Navigator win NACTOY award

North American Car, Utility and Truck of the Year (NACTOY) winners

This year was the first time that the tension was so thick one could cut it with a knife. The North American Car, Utility and Truck of the Year (NACTOY) awards, billed as the Oscars of the Auto Industry, kicked off The 2018 North American International Auto Show.

The show started off with the award ceremony, delivering the win to Honda Accord for the car of the year, Volvo XC 60 for Utility of the year, and Lincoln Navigator for Truck of the year.

Honda Accord won North American Car of the Year

Car of the Year
– Honda Accord
– Kia Stinger
– Toyota Camry

Up against the 10th-generation Accord was the performance Kia Stinger and an all-time favorite in sales, the Toyota Camry. The race was between the Accord and the Stinger, with the Accord pulling away for the win.

Volvo XC 60 wins North American Utility of the year

Utility Vehicle of the Year
– Alfa Romeo Stelvio
– Honda Odyssey
– Volvo XC60

The Volvo XC 90 welcomed its little brother to the Utility of the year award, the XC 90 having previously won the same title.

Lincoln Navigator wins Truck of the Year.

Truck of the Year
– Chevrolet Colorado ZR2
– Ford Expedition
– Lincoln Navigator

Lincoln, a subsidiary of Ford, showed its parent company there is life in this brand. Amid the speculation of an SUV being a truck (the Expedition and Navigator are created using the same steel-frame, aluminum-body platform approach as the F-150, which gives it better fuel economy)

The black label edition of Lincoln pushes the brand to a new level of luxury.

Journalists from the United States and Canada picked the NACTOY winners, as they have done for the last twenty-four years. Each juror’s votes were decided in private and sent to the industry-leading audit firm, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited. Bridgestone was the sponsor of the 2018 NACTOY awards.
