The John Batchelor show
Mary Kissel, editorial board member of the Wall Street Journal, Warren Brown of the Washington Post, Lou Ann Hammond, CEO, www.drivingthenation.com, are in the WABC studio with John Batchelor, host of the John Batchelor radio show.
We’re talking about alternative vehicles, alternative fuels, and new technology for old batteries.
As usual, Batchelor makes fun of Hammond and her loyalty to the Chevy Volt.
Brown talks about the Nissan Leaf he has in his driveway right now. Kissel wants to know if there are better options.
There is a connection of electricity with the Ford Focus. Ford has made a deal with Sunpower solar panels to install panels on Focus owners roofs for $10,000, after the federal tax credit (if maybe less if your state has a credit)
Brown talks about East Penn. East Penn has discovered away to make a lead-acid battery last longer and go further. Brown’s point is that these batteries could go in the smaller electric vehicles and the big lithium-ion batteries go to the bigger, more expensive luxury cars.
The Ford Focus electric vehicle starting MSRP is $39,200. The regular Ford Focus starting MSRP is $16,500.
