Koichi Suzuki, President, American Suzuki Motor

Koichi Suzuki is president of the Automotive Division of American Suzuki Motor Corporation (ASMC), based at company headquarters in Brea, Calif. Prior to assuming his current position, Mr. Suzuki was active in Suzukis U.S. automotive business as an assistant to the president for five years. Mr. Suzuki and the Automotive Business Team are responsible for a business plan that includes the introduction of a series of new vehicle models as well as upgrades to the dealer network through the Suzuki Square retail brand image program. The Suzuki Square program has helped ASMC maintain its steady U.S. sales growth since 2003.

Mr. Suzuki brings extensive internal experience from his more than ten years with ASMCs parent company, Suzuki Motor Corporation (SMC), in Japan. During his time with SMC, Mr. Suzuki spent significant time in the North American Automotive Marketing Division, the Public Affairs Division, and the Overseas Planning Division.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Tokyo University, and resides in Yorba Linda, Calif., with his wife, son, and two daughters.
