Los Angeles auto show on the John Batchelor radio show on Driving the Nation

Los Angeles, CA – Lou Ann Hammond, CEO, www.drivingthenation.com, talked to John Batchelor radio show host about the Los Angeles auto show and the parties before it. Hammond took time out from a Ford party, at Universal Studios, where professional rally driver Ken Block was drifting in a 2014 Ford Fiesta ST.

California is critical to sales of all car companies. According to J.D. Power and Associates California makes us 12 percent of the nation’s sales.
Ford is bringing out a 3 cylinder 1-liter turbocharged Fiesta that got around 50 miles per gallon. Batchelor asked about the green part of Ford Fiesta ST combining it with great 197 horsepower. Ford C-MAX is beating Toyota Prius V in sells, Chevy is bringing out a Spark EV that can be purchased with Apple’s SIRI, Fiat has an electric vehicle, Honda has an Accord plug-in hybrid, and Volkswagen is bringing out a diesel Beetle convertible.

Is California ready for this? Is there an infrastructure ready? People are making the infrastructure themselves. J.D. Power’s analyst John Humphrey told Hammond that 41 percent of Californians are engaged in going green. Hammond used Shad’s mom as an example. Shad’s Mom owns a Chevy Volt, has driven over 11,000 miles, and she still hasn’t used all the gasoline the dealership put in her car. Shad’s Mom also has solar panels, so she doesn’t pay for her electricity.

Who won Green Car of the Year? The Ford Fusion.
