Ludwig Willisch,President and CEO BMW North America, talked to Lou Ann Hammond, CEO, www.drivingthenation.com, about the BMW manufacturing plant in Leipzig, Germany.

Over 1,000,000 BMWs have been produced at the BMW plant in Leipzig, Germany. On March 1, 2012, the production of the new BMW 1 Series (5 door) began at the BMW Leipzig Plant. Also produced at the plant are the BMW 1 Series Coupe and Convertible, M Coupe and X1. The BMW i3 and i8 series will begin production in 2013.

BMW’s Megacity Vehicles, aka electric vehicles, will be produced with carbon-fibre bodies, and are set to roll off the production lines in Leipzig as early as 2013.
