Mark Fields, Ford, “No extra cash on cash for clunkers”

Were at the at the Ford Product Development Center in Dearborn, MI looking at 2010 Ford products. Mark Fields is executive vice president, Ford Motor Company, and president, The Americas.

Watch Fields as he talks about the economy, Ford’s electrification program and the government’s “Cash for Guzzlers/Clunkers” program.

Fields was skeptical about the effectiveness of the program, saying, “It will have a positive effect on the industry”, during the media scrum. When asked to compare it to the European program Fields said, “I dont think it will have as significant effect as, lets say, it has had in Germany because the program was constructed differently.”

When asked about car sales by another journalist Fields said, “I think it has bottomed out”, he said. “The question is at what point does it start turning positive.”
