Micheal Austin, BYD, at the 2011 Detroit auto show on Driving the Nation

Everyone wanted a minute with Micheal Austin, the VP of BYD America. Warren Brown, Washington Post, and I got ten minutes to hear what BYD was up to in 2011.

BYD Auto is a Chinese automobile manufacturer based in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, China, established in 2003. Warren Buffet owns 9.9 percent of BYD.

BYD brought out their green dreams, the Green City Solutions, the green-technology vehicles including the 2012 e6-Eco, world premiere S6DM, low-carbon version F3DM and the core drive technology of the pure-electric bus K9, and a portfolio of eco-friendly products covering solar panels, home energy storage unit’s and energy-saving LED Lighting.

Is BYD a car company or an electric company?

Is BYD already selling in the United States?

How is BYD doing with electricity storage?
