Motoring museums in the UK worth driving to

Motoring Museums in the United Kingdom

If you are fascinated by transport, there are many great transport museums in the UK if you want to have an educational vacation. Here are two places to consider:

Didcot may not be the biggest town in England, but what it lacks in size, it certainly makes up for in tourist attractions and things to do. In particular, its wonderful Railway Centre.

A trip to Didcot is not complete without a visit to Didcot Railway Centre. You may travel there in a car you rented, but that certainly won’t be the type of vehicle you are marveling over by the end of the trip. The Railway Centre provides a wonderful day out for all ages. Not only is it home to many preserved steam locomotives, but a lot of them are actually operational. The site has two running lines, so make sure you do not leave without riding on one of the fantastic steam trains.

When you step into Didcot Railway Centre, you feel as if you have stepped into a time machine, as you experience what it would have been like to travel on one of the magnificent models all those many years ago. You can see the different trains available back then, mirroring how the different classes used to travel. Not only is the place itself great, but there are lots of staff on hand to explain all the various aspects of the trains, and they are all very friendly and willing to help.

After your interesting and intriguing day of fun, you are bound to be hungry. If you want to try something different, hop in your car and head for the Didcot Tandoori or pop over to The Fat Frog for a beer and brew. The restaurants both have exceptional reputations, and many tourists say it is fun to have the option of the best restaurants, and certainly the best in Didcot.

The Radisson Edwardian Hotel is a great place to stay here. This hotel has charm and elegance in abundance, from the staff to the decor to the services available. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly, and you are guaranteed to have a relaxing stay. The Pegasus health spa and gymnasium is a real plus.

The London Motor Museum is the main highlight. The museum provides a unique and fantastic experience. There are over one hundred and fifty cars on display, and each and every one of them is diversified and customized, from different engines and car batteries to unique paint jobs.

The museum appeals to everyone, not just car lovers; the ‘pimp my ride’ style cars really speak to the younger children. The museum is also extremely educational, and you will definitely pick up some facts you never knew. It is well worth a visit.

If you are a fan of all things with a motor, make sure you check out these two locations if you plan to make a road trip around the UK.
