NIssan’s chief car designer Shiro Nakamura

Los Angeles auto show

Los Angeles, CA – Southern California is known for its car design and designers. At the 2011 Los Angeles auto show we talked with Chief Creative Officer Shiro Nakamura for Nissan and Infiniti.

The interview wasn’t about a particular car but about the way Nakamura designs. What part of the car does Nakamura start on when he designs a car?

Is it a certain line, or a lack of line that makes a car?

Which is more important, lines or volume/proportion?

What are the fundamentals of design?

When you are designing a car do you have to consider the weight of the car?

Can you make a car that stresses fuel economy and has little horsepower a car that people are passionate about?
