PHEV – electricity + battery pricing

Plug-in hybrid electric vehicle symposium

San Jose, CA – We are at a Plug-in hybrid electric vehicle symposium in San Jose, CA.

Tom Gage, AC Propulsion is talking about the pricing of Plug-in hybrid electric vehicles.

Electricity is cheaper than gasoline, but what about the battery? The e-box costs about $400 per mile, the range extender costs about $8,000.

What about vehicle to the grid – can you make money on that?

If you add energy cost and battery cost together will it be better than a gasoline car? What year will there be a change in battery cost?
