Susan Docherty, V.P., Buick, Pontiac, GMC

Susan Docherty is the North American Vice President of Buick-Pontiac-GMC. If General Motors, in particular Buick and GMC, survive Susan Docherty will be one of the people to thank. Docherty and her group spent 23 hours a day during the bankruptcy, working. The TARP fund group would ask for information one day and Docherty’s group would present it to them the next day at 7am.

I have to admit, I dreaded going to Michigan for the Buick event. I have a soft spot for all the people in General Motors and hope they succeed, but Buick has never excited me. The average age of a Buick owner is 70 years old, which could explain a lot.

I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the new Buick LaCrosse. I had seen Buicks years ago in China and asked why the United States didn’t have those cars. Now they do.

Docherty talks about General Motors coming out of bankruptcy and Buicks revival. Namely, that the buyers age for Buick is going down.
