Tesla is new in black and blue on Driving the Nation

Tesla Motors (NASDAQ: TSLA) continues to heat up the stock market and is now offering a new model and new colors. The Tesla S 70D comes in three new colors; Ocean Blue, Obsidian Black, and Warm Silver. All colors are now available on any variant of Model S.

A Tesla press release said, “the cost of owning a Model S 70D comes to about $55k over five years (the average length of new car ownership).” When asked how that figure was computed a Tesla representative said the figure was calculated as “a rough look at the cost savings over 5 years of ownership (average ownership of a car) that includes Federal and State incentives and gas savings when one factor in the cost advantages over an internal combustion engine vehicle.”

Model S 70 D standard features include:
All-wheel drive Dual Motor
70 kWh battery with EPA-rated 240 mile range
0-60 mph acceleration in 5.2 seconds
140 mph top speed
Autopilot Hardware
Navigation
Supercharging
Trip planner and range assurance
Lane departure warning
Parking sensors
Automatic emergency braking
Automatic Keyless Entry
GPS enabled HomeLink

The cheaper 70 D, dual-motor = all-wheel drive, has a 70-kilowatt battery that allows for 240 miles of driving range per charge and a zero-to-60 mph time of 5.2 seconds according to Tesla. The 70D comes standard with the components necessary to fill-up at the Superchargers that are growing around the Nation.
