The 1499 GT Special Edition pays tribute to the iconic 1275 GT from 1969 and the MINI Countryman Oxford Edition.

MINI USA has two new unique edition models – the new 2021 MINI Cooper 1499 GT and the new 2021 MINI Countryman Oxford Edition. While the MINI Cooper 1499 GT is a tribute to the iconic Mini 1275 GT and pays homage to MINI’s heritage, both the 1499 GT and the MINI Countryman Oxford Edition create enthusiasm.

The MINI Cooper 1499 GT celebrates the brand’s rich heritage with a nod to one of the best known sporty classic Minis of all time, the Mini 1275 GT, also known as one of the most affordable performance cars of 1969. The MINI Cooper 1499 GT features an exclusive, bespoke look that captures the elusiveness of the Mini 1275 GT, with a stealthy Midnight Black Metallic exterior paint and distinctive gold 1499 GT side stripes. The finish features a Piano Black grille frame, door handles, and headlight rings surrounding LED headlights supported by Fog Lights, as well as Piano Black taillight rings surrounding the Union Jack LED taillights.

The exterior style is accentuated by the MINI John Cooper Works styling package with John Cooper Works front and rear bumpers, side skirts, split level spoiler, and door entry plates, generally reserved for the John Cooper Works variant of the 2 Door Hardtop. The MINI 1499 GT also comes standard with 17” Track Spoke Black wheels wrapped in all-season tires.

Under the hood, the MINI 1499 GT comes standard with a 1.5-liter 3-cylinder engine that delivers 134 hp and 162 ft-lbs. of torque that goes 0 – 60 mph in 7.5 seconds and has a top speed of 130 mph. To top it off, the MINI Cooper 1499 GT comes standard with a third pedal to help operate the 6-Speed Manual Transmission. For those interested in two-pedal driving, there is an optional 7-Speed Dual-Clutch Transmission.

On the interior, the MINI Cooper 1499 GT features John Cooper Works Sports seats in Carbon Black Dinamica/Cloth, a John Cooper Works steering wheel in perforated leather with Chili Red stitching multi-function controls, along with Piano Black finishing throughout the interior with an Anthracite Headliner. The MINI Cooper 1499 GT also features Dual-Zone Automatic Climate Control, a 6.5” Touchscreen Navigation Package with MINI Assist eCall, Remote Services, Apple CarPlay, and a Dynamic Digital Instrument Cluster.

The MINI 1499 GT has a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $27,040 plus an additional $850 Destination & Handling fee.
