Variable Valve Event & Lift (VVEL)

Nissan 360 program

Cascais, Portugal – Variable Valve Event & Lift (VVEL) – We’re at the Nissan 360 program, the global product line-up of all Nissan and Infiniti cars.

I sat down with Motohiro Matsumura, President, Nissan Technical Center North America, Inc, to talk about the newest advanced technology that decreases emissions and increases fuel economy.

The goal, according to Matsumura, was to keep the balance of power and responsiveness that customers wanted, but decrease the emissions and increase the miles per gallon.

Variable Valve Event & Lift (VVEL)

Since Infiniti is the advanced technology group of Nissan Motor the VVEL will be brought out on the G37 and the FX50 this year. How good is the VVEL?

If you compare the previous 3.5-liter G coupe engine with the VVEL G coupe there will be a 40 percent reduction in hydrocarbon emissions and a ten percent improvement in fuel economy.

Matsumura talks about the VVEL while the technology video plays in the background.
